I woke up to a loud beeping sound. I jolted up off the ground and looked around, rubbing my neck. My alarm clock was going off. Funny, I don't remember setting an alarm. I fumbled with the buttons on the alarm and finally just unplugged it. I was about to crawl into bed again when my grandma swept in,
"Wakey Wakey! Big, big day," she sang, I groaned,
"Do I have to go to school? Can't I just take online classes or something?" I asked,
"No, up up up," she replied, I sighed and sat up, "It's quite cold today, dress warm," she called as she went back downstairs. I tugged on my jeans and pulled my I <3 NY T-shirt over my head. I braided my hair to the side and swiped on some mascara. I grabbed my bag and trudged downstairs. As I was eating breakfast my phone buzzed
From: Niall Have fun at school, don't fall asleep in too many classes x. I grinned and typed back,
Don't worry, I'll try my hardest to pay attention and learn lots. What are you doing up this early anyways?
It was 7 o'clock, normal teenage boys wouldn't be up by then if they had time off. My Grandma called for me to hurry as I quickly brushed my teeth and tugged on my converse. My phone buzzed as I headed out to the car.
From: Niall.  I dunno really, Just couldn't sleep anymore I guess. X
I typed back quickly as we pulled out of the drive:
Well if you're looking for something to do, you could always come with me to school, at least then I'd have someone I knew there.
From: Niall.  Nuh-uh I've already suffered enough school.
Fine. Then go say hi to all those fans outside, give them a heart attack to start their day
From: Niall    that doesn't sound very nice.
Neither does school
From: Niall True
Ya think? Ugh I gotta go, just arrived at prison x.x
From: Niall.  Have fun! X
I closed my phone as my grandma pulled up to let me out,
"Bye dear, have a good day," She told me as i opened the door,
"Mhm," I muttered as I stepped out and closed the door. I looked up at the school, it was fairly large and two stories high, made of brick. I walked inside and went into what I hoped was the office. Thankfully it was and the secretary gave me a schedule and a map,
"Thank you," I told her as I walked out, first up was English. I scanned the map and found the room on the second floor of the school. I walked up that way slowly, not making eye contact with anyone I passed. I knew people were staring, I mean I was the new girl and all. It bugged me though so I kept walking, staring straight ahead until I arrived at classroom 316. Several people were already in the room, but seeing as the bell hadn't rang they were mingling. I took a seat in the back of the class that wasn't covered with a jacket or book bag and sat there,
"Hello," A voice said, I looked up, standing there was a tall girl with wavy auburn hair and pretty green eyes.
"Uhm, hi" I replied,
"You're the new American girl aren't you?" She asked,
"Did the accent give it away?" I asked, smiling,
"No, I think it was the shirt," She grinned back, "I'm Margo," she said, holding out a hand,
"Hello Margo, I'm Stephanie," I told her, she took the seat next to me,
"So tell me, how does an American girl end up in the small village of Cheshire?" she asked,
"Well, it's complicated," I replied,
"Complicated is my life sweetie, I've bounced around so many foster homes I can't even count them on my fingers and toes combined," she told me,
"I'm sorry," I said to her, she shrugged,
"It's ok, I'm adopted now, but it was tough. So anyways, explain 'complicated' to me," She said,
"Well, my parents are in the middle of a divorce and they didn't want me to be there for it, so they shipped me off to my Grandmas," I explained,
"Oh, that is sorta complicated, sorry" Margo replied,
"Compared to you story it's nothing," I told her,
"We've both been through rough times, I guess that means we'll be great friends," She grinned, I nodded,
"Most definitely," I told her as the bell rang,
"Please take your seats," The teacher said from the front of the class, "We have a new student with us today, her name is Stephanie and she's from America. I'm sure all of you will welcome her warmly," He said, I felt a blush creep up my neck as everyone turned to stare at me, being new sucked. I doodled the whole time the teacher, whose name was Mr. Hayfield, talked on and on about Romeo and Juliet. I had studied it last year at my old school.
"Ms. Johnston, perhaps you'd like to answer my next question?" Mr. Hayfield asked. I looked up from my doodles,
"Huh?" i said, snickers filled the classroom,
"Tell me please, because I know you were paying attention, what Juliet means when she says 'That which we call a rose. By any other name smells just as sweet,' please?" He asked me
"Juliet is trying to say that Romeo would still be the same Romeo even if he changed his name. Just like a rose would still smell like a rose if you changed its name." I said, the snickers stopped,
"Very good. Please make an effort to act like you're paying attention though," Mr. Hayfield said, "No doodling," he told me; I sighed and put away my doodles. I listened to him drone on, analyzing Romeo's little speech under the balcony. Finally the bell rang and I headed out quickly, Margo with me,
"What class do you have next?" she asked,
"Double math," I groaned,
"Oh, we'll its right down that way," she pointed down the hall, "Do you have lunch after?" She asked,
"Thanks and yeah, I do," I told her, glancing don at my schedule,
"Well, I'll meet you outside the Maths room ok? We can go to lunch together," She smiled,
"Sure," I grinned, she began to walk away, "Margo?" I called, she turned, "Thanks," I told her, she shook her head,
"No problem," She disappeared into the crowd and I walked into the math room. Once again people were all over, mingling and laughing. I chose a seat in the middle this time; I sat there for a few minutes before someone tapped my shoulder. I glanced backwards to see a tall, pretty, blonde girl with dark brown eyes,
"That's my seat," She told me,
"I don't see your name on it," I told her, she placed a hand on her hip,
"Look, American," She hissed, "I know you're new and all but I run this school. And when I say that's my seat, that's my seat," I just looked at her, I had my fair share of bullying back in America, I had a tough skin and never gave in.
"Look, Uk-ian," I told her coolly, looking right at her, "I honestly could care less about who runs this school, I sat here and I'm not moving," I said, examining my nails. The bell rang and everyone took their seats, except the blonde girl,
"Brittany? Would you please take your seat?" The teacher asked,
"I would, if the American wasn't in it," She snapped, what a spoiled brat,
"There are plenty of open chairs," The teacher gestured around the room,
"But," She said,
"Go sit down in a chair Brittany, before I write you up!" The teacher snapped, Brittany huffed and took a seat in the very back, sending a deathly glare in my direction. The teacher shook her head and began the lesson,
"I can't believe you just did that," The girl on my left whispered, "No one ever stands up to Brittany, and wins," She tossed her long brown hair over her shoulder, "You're going to be the talk of the school," She told me,
"Pretty sure I was going to be anyway," I replied,
"True, but this is different," She whispered as the teacher went over sin, cos and tan.
"How so?" I asked,
"Well, you're going to get a bad rep probably," She muttered,
"Least of my worries," I shrugged,
"I like you." She grinned, "I'm Mia," She told me,
"Stephanie," I smiled, the teacher shot us a look so we both shut up and began scribbling down the notes.

After the longest two hours ever the bell finally rang for lunch. As promised, Margo was waiting for me when I walked out of the classroom with Mia. Brittany shoved past me on her way out, I rolled my eyes. Margo, Mia and I began to walk down the hall, Mia talking animatedly with her hands,
"And then she told Brittany to find another seat!" She was saying as we entered the lunch room. Margo walked over to a table and we sat,
"That girl is no good," She said, pulling out her lunch,
"I can tell," I muttered, I glanced over at her and saw her whispering to her friends, she caught my eye and gave me an evil grin.  I looked away and focused on my sandwich. Mia kept the conversation alive all throughout lunch, Margo and I really didn't have to talk at all. She kinda reminded me of Jessica, except Jessica was calmer. Somehow One Direction came up,
"I hear they're going to be recording soon," Margo said,
"I've heard that too," Mia said, I kept quiet, knowing it was true but not wanting to give away that I knew the boys,
"My God, Zayn is sexy," Margo gushed as she flipped through pictures on her iPod,
"So is Liam," Mia said,
"Who's your favorite Stephanie?" Margo asked,
"Um, Niall," I said, saying the first name of the boys that popped into my head.
"Aw, he's a cutie," Mia said, "I heard he ran over a girl in the airport the other day," I froze, that girl was me, "Everyone wants to know who she is, Niall seemed to be friendly with her," she said, I sat there silent. That girl was me,
"Stephanie? Are you ok?" Margo asked,
"Um, if I tell you guys something will you tell anyone else?" I asked. They shook their heads, "Well, that girl is me," I told them, Mia's blue eyes went wide as saucers,
"Oh my god, you met Niall Horan?! You are theeee luckiest girl on the entire planet. Is he super gorgeous in person? Is he funny? Is his accent to DIE for?" she asked, I shushed her.
"We don't need the whole school knowing about it," I hissed,
"Sorry," Mia muttered,
"To answer your questions: 1. Yeah, he's cute, 2. Yeah, and 3. Yeah," I told her. She giggled, "Harry Styles is actually my next door neighbor," I told them.
"OH. MY. GOD." Mia shouted, causing a lot of stares. Margo and I glared at her, "Sorry,"
"That's so cool though," Margo said, the bell rang, signaling class time again. We all parted ways, agreeing to meet up after school.
Finally the end of the day bell rung and I walked out of my World History class. I headed out into the drizzly day to Margo, Mia and I's agreed meeting point: the flag pole. Margo was already out there, her hood up and her arms crossed.
"Heya Margo," I greeted her, she smiled,
"Are Mia and I coming over to yours?" She asked,
"Yea, my Grandma's over there, we just have to wait for..." I said, before Mia ran up,
"Hey guys, sorry it took a little while, Mr. Demire held me back a minute," She said,
"It's ok, let's go," I said, walking to my Grandmas car. I opened the front door, "Hi, Grandma," I said,
"Hi Honey, who are your friends?" She asked,
"This is Margo and that's Mia," I said gesturing to the girls, "Can they come over?" I asked,
"Hello girls," Grandma waved, "Sure they can come over, hop in," She said, I smiled and we piled in. On the drive home it was never quiet, mostly because of Mia. We climbed out of the car all laughing and found Harry leaning on the garage door. Mia shut up immediately and Margo froze,
"Hey Harry," I said casually, he grinned,
"Hey, who are your friends?" He asked,
"This is Margo and that's Mia," I said,
"H-hi" Margo said, Mia sat there speechless,
"Hello lovely," Harry said, flashing his dimpled smile, Margo blushed,
"What are you doing here Mr. Styles?" I asked him,
"I came to see if you wanted to hang out today? Niall's been dying to see you again," He winked,
"Is that so?" I asked him, raising an eyebrow,
"It is indeed," He said,
"Well, what about Margo and Mia?" I asked, Mia was bouncing on her toes and Margo, who was trying to act calm, was chewing on her lip.
"Well why don't they come on over too? I think the boys are getting used to you bringing friends," He told me,
"Hey, that was once!" I said, Harry stuck his tongue out; I turned to the girls, "You wanna head on over?" I asked, Mia nodded like her life depended on it and Margo whispered,
"Yes," We dropped our bags inside and headed through the gate. Niall and Louis were outside now that the rain had lightened up a little. They were passing a soccer ball around. I grinned and ran up behind Niall, who was receiving the ball, and ran in front of him as soon as Louis kicked it.
"Oy!" He shouted as I stole the ball and dribbled away with it, "Get back here!" He shouted, Mia laughed. I dribbled it over to the bungalow, where Zayn had just stuck his head out,
"Vas Happenin'?" He asked, I giggled,
"Hey Zayn, go get Liam! It's finally sorta nice out and I have friends for y'all to meet," I told him, watching Niall run for me out of the corner of my eye. Zayn disappeared inside and I turned back to Niall, who had reached me,
"So, you want the ball back?" I asked, placing my foot on top of it,
"Pleaseee?" He begged me,
"You'll have to get it from me," I told him dribbling it by him; he stuck out his foot to try to get the ball. He got a piece of it and I tripped over the ball. I fell onto the ground and rolled over, holding my wrist. Zayn and Liam had just came out of the bungalow and they froze when they saw me,
"Steph!" Mia and Margo ran over to me, I bent my wrist and winced at the pain. Niall knelt over me,
"Steph, oh God, I'm so sorry," He whispered, looking at me with sad blue eyes,
"It's ok," I hissed out through clenched teeth, trying not to cry, Zayn tapped Margo's arm,
"Let's not crowd her ok, babe?" He asked, she had a dreamy look on her face as she moved away, never taking her eyes off of Zayn. Mia went to stand near Liam. Louis came running back out with Anne,
"What on Earth happened?!" She asked as she looked at me holding my wrist on the ground,
"It was my fault Anne, I tripped her," Niall said guiltily,
"We'll need to take her to the hospital," Anne said, I winced as my wrist moved again,
"Let's go," Harry said,
"We can't ALL go, we'll get mobbed like crazy," Liam pointed out,
"How about Liam, Louis and I stay behind with Margo and Mia?" Zayn asked,
"Sure," Harry said, Anne ran inside. I began to try to pick myself up, which was very hard with one good wrist. Niall scooped me up,
"Here," He said, "Let me help," I smiled,
"Um, Niall?" I asked, cradling my hurt wrist,
"Ya?" He asked,
"I really don't want anyone to recognize me..." I said, "Can you pull up my hood?" I asked him. He obliged and pulled my hood up, tucking my hair in. Harry handed me a pair of sunglasses,
"I know it's cloudy, but it'll help," He said as Niall turned sideways to get into the garage,
"Niall, I can walk you know," I told him as he tried to carry me to the car through the crowded garage. He set me down and I made my way to the car, where Anne was already sitting, waiting. Harry and Niall climbed in and we backed out. The screams of the girls greeted our ears. I ducked my head down as we passed through the girls who mobbed the car. We finally made it out of the village and were on our way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Looks like just a sprain," The doctor told me as he wrapped up my wrist, "We'll give you this wrap that you'll have to keep on for a couple weeks, but it should be healed soon," He told me, I breathed a sigh of relief, "No sports though, ok?" He told me, I nodded, "Alright, we're all finished here," He said,
"Thank you sir," I smiled,
"No problem," He smiled back and opened the door for me and we walked out. Anne, Harry and Niall stood when we walked in, "It was just a sprain, nothing huge. Just don't let her play sports or do anything that could risk further injury of her wrist," He told Anne before he left us to sign out,
"I called your Grandma," Anne said as we walked to the car, "She's relieved you're ok," She told me,
"She didn't freak out did she?" I asked her as we climbed into the car,
"A little, but she calmed down after a bit," Anne said,
"It was quite funny actually," Harry said from the passenger seat, I laughed,
"It usually is," I told him. He explained to me just what had happened as we pulled back into Harry's drive, past the screaming girls again. We headed back to the backyard so I could grab Margo and Mia before going home. We found them sitting in the living room area of the bungalow all chatting animatedly,
"Well?" Louis asked us as we walked in,
"Sprained," I told him, holding up my wrist,
"Ah, well at least it's not broken," He said, I nodded,
"We should go," Margo said from next to Zayn, "Your Grandma came over and asked about a little while ago. She seemed worried," She said,
"I know, you guys ready?" I asked them. Mia stood and nodded, so did Margo. I waved goodbye to the boys and we headed out. Mia and Margo had gone through the gate when Niall came running up. I turned,
"Look Steph. I'm sorry, so so so sorry. I feel horrible," He told me,
"Niall, it's ok. It was only a sprain, no harm done," I said, smiling at him,
"But…" He said,
"Niall, its O.K. I promise," I told him, patting his arm,
"Are you sure?" He asked,
"Yes, I'm sure," I told him, he half-smiled, "I gotta go," I said, walking through the gate. My grandma ran out and hugged me tightly,
"Oh thank goodness you're ok! I was so worried!" She shouted as I hugged her back,
"I'm fine Grandma, honestly," I said as she led me inside. Mia and Margo were at the table. She sat me down and got us each a plate of food. She hovered over me, "Grandma, I'm not dying. I'm fine I swear," I told her. She walked away. Margo and Mia told me about their time with the boys,
"Sounds like fun," I said when they had finished, "Score some digits?" I asked,
"I got Liam's" Mia grinned,
"Zayn gave me his," Margo gushed,
"Yay!" I cheered, they laughed. A horn blasted outside,
"That'll be my mom," Mia said, standing,
"Think you can give me a lift?" Margo asked, Mia nodded,
"Yeah, see you Steph," Mia said,
"Yeah, thanks for having us," Margo said as they walked out,
"Bye!" I said before taking care of my dish and heading upstairs to do my homework. It was hard to do my homework because I sprained my left wrist. I managed to scribble down my answers barely legible enough to read. I quickly showered and fell asleep cradling my wrist.
